After creating major themes to focus on this birthday year, I made a huge list of potential mini goals I want to complete. I've narrowed it down to 3 themes, 12 goals, and 12 months starting in October 2020. One of the themes for this year is what I like to call "Thoughts" Some of the ideas around this are: How do I increase positive thoughts and emotions? How much or little will I let social media control my thoughts and ideas? How do I create more stillness in my life? How do I organize and filter my thoughts and prioritize what's important?
For the month of October, my goal is to practice gratitude for 31 days straight by taking daily photographs based on a predetermined list. October first is person, October second is comfort and October third is morning. etc. If you want the complete list, I've written them all down at @awakeonmonday
Gratitude can present itself in many ways. Writing it down pen to paper is a great way to experience gratitude. Taking a photograph is also another great option. In the end, you can write as many words as you want, or take as many pictures but if you don't put emotion into it, you won't be able to experience it's full happiness effect. My work around this goal is to bring daily gratitude into my life through photography.
Now you might ask, how does that relate to Awake on Monday? Why am I talking about my goals here? Mindset is arguably the biggest factor in a entrepreneurial success. I've realized the number one thing holding me back was myself. To achieve is to believe. And to believe you can do it is to be in action and always moving forward, failure or otherwise.
How you see failure is also an important part of a growth mindset. It's not about failing but about how quickly you can pick yourself up and try again. I've fallen a few times and it took me a whole year to get back up! That's a lesson and a reality that I had to learn on my own.
I hope you enjoyed this Monday Morning Reads. My hope is that these blogs bring you value to make lasting and concrete change in your life.
